Prana is the vital life-force energy that runs through us.
In some traditions it’s known as chi, ki, or simply energy. The prana moves through the main energy channels of the body, that are connected with the chakras. The optimal flow of prana reflects the qualities of vibrancy and calm. Prana reflects the life within and flows through the different sheaths or layers of our physical and energy bodies.
Prana needs to be active in our bodies, but not too fast as to overwhelm our system. If it’s too calm, then it grows stagnant. Finding a balance between these two qualities is the goal of practicing yoga. Whatever state we find ourselves in, we can use the different postures or methods in yoga to help balance the energy we find ourselves in.
